Jewish leaders gather and decide to send Jesus to Pilate.
All 4 gospels time this event as in the morning. Timed here at 6:00 AM, first hour after sunrise.
28Then the Jews led Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness the Jews did not enter the palace; they wanted to be able to eat the Passover. John 18:28 NIV
28¶Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover. John 18:28 KJV
1Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people came to the decision to put Jesus to death. Matthew 27:1 NIV
1When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: Matthew 27:1 KJV
1Very early in the morning, the chief priests, with the elders, the teachers of the law and the whole Sanhedrin, reached a decision. They bound Jesus, led him away and handed him over to Pilate. Mark 15:1 NIV
1And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate. Mark 15:1 KJV
66At daybreak the council of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and teachers of the law, met together, and Jesus was led before them. Luke 22:66 NIV
66¶And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, Luke 22:66 KJV
2They bound him, led him away and handed him over to Pilate, the governor. Matthew 27:2 NIV
2And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor. Matthew 27:2 KJV
67"If you are the Christ," they said, "tell us."
Jesus answered, "If I tell you, you will not believe me, 68and if I asked you, you would not answer. 69But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God."
70They all asked, "Are you then the Son of God?"
He replied, "You are right in saying I am."
71Then they said, "Why do we need any more testimony? We have heard it from his own lips." Luke 22:67-71 NIV
67Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:UNSURE: Second use of "ei" 68And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. 69Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. 70Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. 71And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth. Luke 22:67-71 KJV
1Then the whole assembly rose and led him off to Pilate. Luke 23:1 NIV
1And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate. Luke 23:1 KJV
Judas returns 30 pieces of Silver
3When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders. 4"I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent blood."
"What is that to us?" they replied. "That's your responsibility."
5So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.
6The chief priests picked up the coins and said, "It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money." 7So they decided to use the money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners. 8That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. 9Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "They took the thirty silver coins, the price set on him by the people of Israel, 10and they used them to buy the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me." Matthew 27:3-10 NIV
3¶Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. 5And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. 6And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. 7And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. 8Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day. 9Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; 10And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me. Matthew 27:3-10 KJV
