Jesus’ Authority Questioned

A prophetic match to Korah’s rebellion at the time of Moses. Matches 9481-9540 AA. Notice that it is the elders, chief priests and scribes who come to Jesus. This is a prophetic match to Aaron, Moses, Joshua (scribe) and the 70 elders who went above Mount Sinai for dinner.

Matthew (P)

23Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. "By what authority are you doing these things?" they asked. "And who gave you this authority?" 24Jesus replied, "I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. 25John's baptism -- where did it come from? Was it from heaven, or from men?" They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, `From heaven,' he will ask, `Then why didn't you believe him?' 26But if we say, `From men' -- we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet." 27So they answered Jesus, "We don't know." Then he said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things. (Matthew 21:23-27 NIV)

Little Children

All those who did not make it to their 20th year before the Exodus were allowed into the promised land, they were allowed into the Kingdom of God. This event was the focus of Jesus’ following parable. 9541 AA is indicated here, the year of the crossing of the Jordan.

Mark (P)

27They arrived again in Jerusalem, and while Jesus was walking in the temple courts, the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to him. 28"By what authority are you doing these things?" they asked. "And who gave you authority to do this?" 29Jesus replied, "I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. 30John's baptism -- was it from heaven, or from men? Tell me!" 31They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, `From heaven,' he will ask, `Then why didn't you believe him?' 32But if we say, `From men'...." (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.) 33So they answered Jesus, "We don't know." Jesus said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things." (Mark 11:27-33 NIV)

Luke (P)

1One day as he was teaching the people in the temple courts and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, together with the elders, came up to him. 2"Tell us by what authority you are doing these things," they said. "Who gave you this authority?" 3He replied, "I will also ask you a question. Tell me, 4John's baptism -- was it from heaven, or from men?" 5They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, `From heaven,' he will ask, `Why didn't you believe him?' 6But if we say, `From men,' all the people will stone us, because they are persuaded that John was a prophet." 7So they answered, "We don't know where it was from." 8Jesus said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things." (Luke 20:1-8 NIV)
