Psalm 58: Abortionist Dead In Church

A well known late term abortionist was killed while handing out bulletins in Church. This Psalm addresses the congregation and womb and explains God's perspective on what happened.

26 Psalms 58

1Do you speak righteousness, congregation? Do you judge uprightly, sons of men?
2Look, you all speak evil on land, and your hands are soiled with injustice.

3The wicked are known from the womb; they go astray as soon as they are born, speaking lies.
4Their poison is like the poison of a serpent; they are like the deaf adder that stops its ear,
5and will not listen to the voice of the whisperer, nor to the charmer nor to the wise.

6Break their teeth in their mouths, god; pull out the fangs of the lions, Yahvah.
7Let them be rejected as water which is contaminated; let god shoot his arrows until the wicked are destroyed.
8Like the wax that melts, and drips before the fire, let them be destroyed; fire has fallen from the skies and they did not see; the light of truth has been given and they did not understand.
9Let their thorns be increased, and fear of wrath shake them violently.

10The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will wash his hands in the blood of the wicked,
11so that a man will say, Assuredly, there is a reward for the righteous; assuredly, there is a god that judges in the land.

George Tiller Gunned Down

The theoretical time for this Psalm was around 9:00 PM on the east coast of the United States on Saturday evening, May 30, 2009. The apparent headline unfolded the following morning in Witchita, Kansas. This time offset is common when the expected fulfillment time is in the night.

A well known, late-term abortionist, George Tiller, was shot down while handing out bulletins at his Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas.

The first clue as to the match for the headline comes from 2 key words found in the Psalm. The first is "womb" and the second is "congregation."

Abortionists are clearly dealing with the issue of the womb, an unusual term that shows up in verse 3 of this Psalm. Abortionists take lives with their hands, a term in verse 2. The shooting took place in a church building, at a church service, and that shows in verse 1. The expression "untimely birth" which was tiller's job, also shows up in verse 8, yet another match to abortion, and another clue this was the correct headline for this Psalm.

Background Theology

The Bible has extensive scripture dealing with what is generally termed "blood-guilt." The term applies to a key component of Noah's Covenant. From that covenant we know that as long as man is on the earth, that God will judge those who kill, those who shed innocent blood.

The term "innocent" is important to Noah's Covenant. When innocent blood is shed the person who murdered as well as the land where the blood was shed becomes defiled. Scripture uses various terms to describe the defilement, but the bottom line is that innocently shed blood must be atoned, blood-for-blood. God himself makes sure, as a condition of Noah's Covenant, that the atonement is paid. It is only by this process that the entire planet need not be destroyed as it was in Noah's time. At the time of Moses, animal blood could atone for certain types of blood-guilt. After Jesus' crucifixion his blood can atone.

The Bible also uses the term "avenger of blood." The term applies to those who are carrying out acts of killing that are themselves avenging shed blood. A state executioner carrying out a death penalty is not themselves guilty of shedding blood because they were avenging the shed blood of a murder's victim.

Working out who's blood atones, and why, is the applied aspect of this theology.

Background on US Abortion

Abortion became legal in the United States in 1971. At this point those who wanted to kill their own babies could transfer some of their own blood-guilt to the public at large, with the public sharing in that blood guilt. This same process happened in ancient Egypt. Just like the modern US Supreme Court, ancient Pharaoh ordered the killing of babies, what is usually called "late term abortion" in the modern idiom.

The story of Pharaoh is key, because after 40 years Pharoah's Egypt is destroyed in a series of plagues. 2 events in those plagues deals with blood. The First Born Plague sees every first born across Egypt either dead in the avenging of the murdered babies or alive but under the atoning blood on the door posts. A short time later Pharaoh himself ends up dead in the seas, an echo to Noah's Covenant, where water is used to atone for blood-guilt.

The modern replay of the Egyptian plagues began in 2007. As of this writing the first-born plague, nor sea crossing, has replayed. When they do, the total blood guilt of modern prophetic Egypt, something over 40,000,000 dead souls, will be atoned.

The American public has a facination with murdering babies. It can never stand up to what is right and say no to murder. Abortion remains popularly supported and each year the total blood-guilt increases, building to the point when God will not stand it any longer.

Media Response to the Wichita Event

Since the main stream media is itself a popularity contest, needing to portray views that hold the widest audience, it tends to reflect views that are wildly held. The media response was as would be expected, turning Tiller into a victim. Never mind that the number of people he has personally murdered is probably not matched since the days of mass murder in World War II. It is fair to call Tiller a mass murderer, a term not often heard.

It is at the media response that the text of the Psalm begins to bear. The first verse:

26 Psalms 58:1
1Do you speak righteousness, congregation? Do you judge uprightly, sons of men?

Of course the answer is no.

The expression applies at 2 levels. The first is to Tiller's church. Groups of Christians are supposed to care about who is in their midst. Mass murders, even if their actions are sanctioned by Pharaoh, are not the type of people who should be allowed in. They bring their own blood guilt to the places where they hang out, as happened in the church building itself.

The national media, really the voice that does the speaking about this event is also not speaking righteousness, turning this event into a pro-abortion tirade because that is what the audience demands. The term "sons of men" is a prophetic term that can apply to the United States as a whole, and by use of that term the entire public takes on guilt in this affair.

It is not clear what standing the shooter may have, especially before God. Was he an avenger of blood for the thousands killed by Tiller? We will never know.

What we can know is that there is a judge who knows, who keeps Noah's covenant.

26 Psalms 58:11-59:0
11so that a man will say, Assuredly, there is a reward for the righteous; assuredly, there is a god that judges in the land.
