26 Psalms 48

1Great is Yahvah, and exceedingly exalted in the city of our god and in his holy and glorious mountain.
2Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole land, is mount Zion on the slopes of the north, the city of the great king.
3God shows his might in her walled cities.

4For look, the kings were prepared, and they passed by together.
5They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were frustrated and hurried away.
6Fear took hold of them, and pain, like a woman in travail.
7With a violent storm, the ships of Tarshish will be broken.
8As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of our god; god will establish it forever.

9We have trusted on your lovingkindness, god, in the middle of your house.
10As is your name, god, so is your praise to the ends of the land; your right hand is full of righteousness.
11Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad because of your judgments, Yahvah.

12Circle Zion, and go around her; count her towers.
13Mark well her strength and the depth of her bulwarks, that you may tell it to another generation.
14For this god is our god forever and ever; he will be our guide until death.

Dallas Cowboy's Roof Collapse

The major headline was the collapse of the Dallas Cowboy's indoor training facility. Rich Behm, a Dallas scouting assistant, was paralyzed from the waist down due to injuries sustained when the metal frame came crashing down.

Training time scheduled for Sunday was canceled.

Across Sunday, May 3, 2009, a massive swath of fast moving winds continued across a region from Houston, Texas, to Atlanta, Georgia.

Notes

The Psalm speaks of counting "her strength" and football players are usually considered the strongest. The problem was the building, a fancy tent, was so weak it could not stand up in the wind.

This violent storm is called out specifically in verse 7.

An interesting point is the injured man was a scouting assistant, who's job matches the task described in verse 13.

Verse 5 mentions hurrying off, which is what happened when the players were disbanded the following morning.

Note that Houston, south of Dallas-Fort Worth, is the home of some of NASA's space operations. Parables about the City of God, when they play in the United States, often fulfill in the Houston area because it represents access to Heaven.
