Jesus in the Tomb

This is when Jesus was put in the tomb.

Placed here at 5:00 PM, the last full hour of the day.

John (P) Mark (P) Luke (P)

40 John 19:38
38After these things, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, because of fear of the Jews, begged Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus. And Pilate granted him permission. So he came and took away the body of Jesus.

40 John 19:39-41
39And there also came Nicodemus, who at first, had come to Jesus by night; and he brought with him a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about 100 pints.
40So they took away the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, according to the custom of the Jews in burial.
41Now there was a garden in the place where Jesus was crucified; and in the garden a new tomb in which no man was yet laid.

40 John 19:42-20:0
42So they laid Jesus there, because the sabbath was approaching and because the tomb was near.

42 Mark 15:42
42And when it was Friday evening, which is before the sabbath,

42 Mark 15:43-16:0
43then Joseph of Arimathea came, an honorable counsellor, who was also waiting for the kingdom of god, and he dared to go to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.
44But Pilate marveled that he was already dead. So he called the centurion and asked him if he had already died.
45And when he learned it, he gave the body to Joseph.
46And Joseph bought linen, and took him down and wrapped him in it, and laid him in a tomb which was hewn in a rock; and he rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.
47But Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of Joses, saw where he was laid.

43 Luke 23:50-52
50There was a man named Joseph, the counselor of Arimathea, a city of Judea, a good and righteous man.
51He did not agree with their wishes and their actions; and he waited for the kingdom of god.
52He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

43 Luke 23:53
53And he took it down and wrapped it in fine linen, and laid it in a hewn tomb in which no one was ever laid.

43 Luke 23:54
54The day was setting, and the sabbath was approaching.

43 Luke 23:55-24:0
55The women who had come with him from Galilee were near, and they saw the tomb and how his body was laid.
56And they returned and prepared spices and perfumes.

And on the sabbath they rested, as it is commanded.
